I sometimes wonder if Mr Mbeki actually lives in South Africa. He makes such strange statements sometimes that one can only think that he has “Ostrich syndrome”.
With HIV / AIDS he actually publicly stated that he did not know anyone who had HIV /AIDS and that was when many thousands of people were dying in this country.
Now he states that xenophobia is a syndrome not a phobia and that he does not personally know anybody with xenophobia. He asks: “What is xeno? There is no such thing.”
He also stated the following: “This makes me wonder whether in fact “xeno” isn’t perhaps some sort of racist codeword for an African. I ask you. Just because there is an X in front of a word, does that make it automatically African?”

I would also like to advise that when I googled “xeno” that within one minute I found the following link which gives a clear definition of xeno and Mr Mbeki stated in his interview that he had made an “exhaustive research on the internet”:

I think our ostriches know more about the country than Mr Mbeki.
