South African President elect Jakob Zuma is going one up….sorry…. two up on Barack Obama! How come? He will have the support of THREE first ladies when he is inaugurated at the Union Buildings in Pretoria tomorrow not just ONE!

Jacob Zuma has invited his “present” three wives i.e. Nompumelelo (MaNtuli), Sizakele (MaKhumalo) and Thobeka Mabhija to share the day with him. We do not know whether his 5th “wife to be” will be there in the wings.

He has invited his 19 children to the ceremony as well.

I must say the surprise of the year is the fact that Robert Mugabe has been invited and will apparently attend, what a laugh!

The R75million bash comes at a time where the country cannot afford to dole out such an amount, but who cares…..it is party time!

CORRUPTION IN SA POLITICS April 10, 2009

We are so fortunate in SA we do not have to WONDER whether we have a corrupt President / politician we KNOW that we do! So if the ANC does win the election on 22 April 2009, and Jakob Zuma becomes South Africa’s new President we know exactly what we have.

Apparently there are over 700 counts of corruption/fraud/racketeering and tax evasion against him but now the National Prosecuting Authority have dropped all charges against ANC leader Jacob Zuma.

A few responses by opposition parties:

Koos van der Merwe, chief whip and justice spokesperson of the Inkatha Freedom Party, said the “real loser” was the justice system “which has been cracked”.

“Mr Zuma has saddled himself and SA internationally with a cloud of immorality, while the prosecuting authorities have dealt the integrity of our justice system an almost irreparable blow,” Van der Merwe said.

United Democratic Front leader Bantu Holomisa said it was a shameful day in the country?s history and warned: “People must brace themselves, our justice system is crumbling. This is the culmination of the campaign of the dodgy characters in the ANC to reduce this country to a banana republic - people must remember that a vast number of NEC members have faced or are facing charges,” said Holomisa. “The justice system of this country has been sacrificed on the altar of political expedience. One of the most basic principles of democracy is that we are all equal before the law. That ideal now lies in tatters.”

Patricia de Lille, the Independent Democrats leader who first blew the whistle on arms deal corruption allegations in 1999, had just one word to describe the conduct of NPA officials and the resulting decision: “Disgusting!”

Helen Zille, the DA leader, said the NPA was being manipulated by the Zuma faction within the ANC just as it had been manipulated by the Mbeki faction.

COPE leader Mvume Dandala said he was shocked “at the evil manner in which the NPA conducted this business”.

It looks like you HAVE to be corrupt or have spent time in jail to qualify to be a politician or President in South Africa!

ORANIA BEING WOED BY ANCYL’S JULIUS MALEMA April 5, 2009

ANC election posters that were positioned in the main road to show that the ANC could “campaign anywhere,” failed to aggravate residents during ANC Youth League President Julius Malema’s trip to Orania on Saturday.

Provincial FF+ leader Carel Boshoff regarded the erection of the posters as a “non-issue”.

“The ANC is free to put up as many posters as they wish in the main road, as other parties are doing. It is a non-event.”

The Freedom Front Plus Youth delivered a copy of the book “Boundaries with Teens” to ANC president Jacob Zuma’s office as a “birthday present” for the ANC Youth League on Thursday.

FFPlus spokesman Marcus Pawson said the youth opted to deliver the “present” to Zuma’s office to help him “teach his youth league discipline and manners so their behaviour will be better in the coming years than in the past”.

“The book shows how to discipline youth… in a biblical manner. It stipulates exactly what Zuma needs to do to tame ANC’S Youth League president Julius Malema,” Pawson said in a statement.

ZIMBABWE ASKS FOR SA AID BUT OUR COFFERS ARE EMPTY February 22, 2009

Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has approached SA President Kgalema Motlanthe for an approx R6 billion rescue package to finance salaries for Zimbabwe’s civil servants and to meet other essential services expenditure in the next six months.

If Mr Tsvangirai had watched our Minister of Finance’s recent budget speach he would have heard that SA had to borrow R90 billion from someone overseas to balance our budget so where we will be able to get R6 billion to help them I don’t know.

Maybe they should ask Mr Mugabe to loan them the funds from all the money he has “salted” away over the years for his own personal benefit!

GADDAFI - NEW CHAIRMAN OF AFRICAN UNION February 12, 2009

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was elected chairman of the African Union on Monday and I must say I wonder how he got elected he certainly does not inspire confidence.

Have a look at this photo and see how bored, uninterested and uninspired he looks….!

Gaddafi’s election was treated almost like a coronation by a group of 30 customary African leaders dressed in colourful robes and headgear who accompanied him to the conference hall at his invitation.

“On behalf of the traditional kings, on behalf of all the sultans, on behalf of all the princes, on behalf of all the customary rulers, I want to say thank you to the King of Kings who we have now crowned,” their unidentified leader said.

Wow talk about putting someone on a pedestal!

MALEMA IS NOT A “JOKE” February 7, 2009

Mosiuoa Lekota has labelled ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema a “child soldier” whose paths of destruction have left mayhem across the African continent.

In a hard-hitting speech in Somerset West last night, the COPE leader warned that Malema could not simply be written off as a “boy” or a “joke”.

Lekota said Malema’s political intolerance - including statements that he would “kill for Jacob Zuma” - showed the ANC’s descent into iron-fisted authoritarianism.

Speaking about Malema, Lekota said: “The so-called child soldiers are the instruments used to sow destruction and death across Africa.

“Malema says that ‘If you do not do what we say then we will take up arms and kill you’.

“And you still want us to think of Malema as just a joke?” Lekota warned. “Think about it.”

He claimed that Cope meetings were routinely broken up by ANC members. “That is the type of behaviour you found in the old Soviet Union - where no one was allowed to hold meetings except the ruling party.”

He cited police union Pop-cru’s affiliation with Cosatu, which was an ally of the ANC, as a danger which would lead to a partisan police force, in bed with the ruling party - which could be especially dangerous during elections, as witnessed disastrously in Zimbabwe.

Lekota said that while defence minister he had in-sisted, as was his right, that soldiers’ unions not affiliate and could thus not be politically aligned.

He said it was imperative for South Africa’s entire public service to be depoliticised.

Asked why he had only broken away from the ANC 15 years after 1994, Lekota said that it had taken time to witness the ANC’s failure to meet its election promises.

Similarly, it was only after 1994 that ANC certain leaders has showed their corrupt and anti-constitutional tendencies.

“After 15 years, we have now seen the outlines of an evil society,” he warned.

Lekota also warned that SA would become a “failed state”, like countries across Africa, if the ruling ANC was allowed to “smash” the constitution, as it appeared to be willing to do to protect Zuma from the law.

Lekota said numerous African countries had descended into anarchy because their ruling parties had failed to make the switch from being liberation movements to parties which governed responsibly.

He said the ANC’s failure to modernise included continuing to place struggle heroes in positions they simply did not have the skills for - 15 years after liberation.

“The masses do not eat history, they do not drink history, they do not sleep in history,” Lekota said.

A skills failure and corruption were why there had been an outbreak of cholera re-cently, because of the lack of clean, processed water.

In a possible reference to Zimbabwe’s land seizures, Lekota said commercial farmers were highly skilled and without them the country’s food supplies would dry up.

“Farms do not just run automatically,” he warned.

Lekota repeated his controversial statements about affirmative action, saying the country urgently needed the best person for the job, regardless of colour, culture or language.

MORAL ISSUES: MOTLANTHE vs ZUMA January 28, 2009

It is a bit of a laugh! Much is made of President Motlanthe’s alleged extra-marital affair by his enemies who apparently want to make him less of a threat to the ambitions of Jacob Zuma, the ANC president. Some ANC members fears that President Motlanthe will want to continue his present office.

Why I find this so funny is because they should not have chosen the “moral” route to try and discredit Motlanthe because it is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

If one had to look at the “morals” of Jacob Zuma one would certainly consider him to be the LEAST moral of the two. He had sex with a friends daughter (she apparently as a bit mentally empaired) who was known to be HIV positive (a shower after sex washed away the AIDS virus Zuma claimed), he has five wives and is considering taking a sixth one, how many other sexual partners does he have? Who knows?

The African culture is different and it certainly is not an embarrassment for an African male to have more than one sexual partner.

Motlanthe’s enemies must rather pick another subject if they want to embarrass him, because this one is not worth the effort!

KwaZulu-Natal’s first black female judge, Leona Theron, will preside over ANC president Jacob Zuma’s court appearance in the Pietermaritzburg High Court next month, SABC reported on Tuesday.

I am sure that she will be in the spotlight and will have to be very astute in her judgment when hearing this case.

I wish her well!

OBAMA INAUGURATION, MONEY WELL SPENT? January 18, 2009

My American friends are probably going to shoot me down when they read this post, but I still cannot see the point in spending over $130 million on President elect Obama’s inauguration in this present economic climate we are living in.

When we see the images of people suffering all over the world and in America one would really think that they would scale down the spending on this inauguration. Yes he is popular worldwide and everyone wants to be part of this historic occasion, but does it have to be so elaborate?

Call me cynical, but I cannot help seeing it as a waste of money!
